Aldaris is a Protoss executor and a prominent representative of the Conclave, the ruling body of Protoss society in the original StarCraft story. He initially distrusts Tassadar’s decisions and strongly supports traditional Protoss law and authority during the conflict with the Zerg and Terran forces.
His role illustrates the political tension within the Protoss campaign. Tassadar’s willingness to work with outsiders and use methods viewed as forbidden by conservative leaders creates a conflict between military necessity and established doctrine. Aldaris frequently acts as the voice of that conservative position.
Aldaris is sometimes confused with Tassadar, Fenix, or Artanis because all are important Protoss characters. Tassadar is the central commander of the original Protoss campaign, Fenix is a celebrated warrior, and Artanis later becomes a major Protoss leader. Aldaris is chiefly associated with the Conclave and its political authority.
