In StarCraft, the Protoss homeworld destroyed during the Zerg invasion is Aiur.
Aiur is the ancient homeworld of the Protoss and the center of their civilization. In the original game’s story, the Zerg launch a devastating invasion of the planet, forcing the Protoss to confront the scale of the threat and the consequences of their political divisions.
The fall of Aiur becomes one of the defining events of the StarCraft saga. Protoss survivors, including major figures such as Tassadar and Zeratul, later seek refuge on Shakuras, a homeworld associated with the Dark Templar.
Aiur is often confused with Shakuras because both worlds are central to Protoss history. Shakuras becomes a temporary center of Protoss resistance, but Aiur is the civilization’s original homeworld and the planet devastated by the Zerg invasion.
