In StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, who is the main playable protagonist?

Jim Raynor is the main playable protagonist of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

The campaign follows Raynor and his rebel group, Raynor’s Raiders, as they oppose the Terran Dominion and confront the returning Zerg threat. Players control his forces through a series of missions, selecting research, upgrades, and optional operations aboard the battlecruiser Hyperion.

Raynor first appeared in the original StarCraft as a Confederate marshal on the frontier world Mar Sara. Over time, he became a central figure in the Koprulu Sector’s conflicts, moving from reluctant local leader to commander of a major resistance movement. Wings of Liberty presents the story largely from his perspective.
