In StarCraft: Brood War, Gerard DuGalle commands the United Earth Directorate expedition sent to conquer the Koprulu Sector.
DuGalle is an admiral of the United Earth Directorate, a powerful government based on Earth. He leads the UED fleet during the expansion’s first campaign, arriving with the stated mission of defeating the local Terran powers and controlling the Zerg threat.
His expedition includes Alexei Stukov as vice admiral. The two officers initially appear united, but their relationship breaks down as the campaign progresses. Stukov’s secretive actions and DuGalle’s trust in certain advisers contribute to a major internal conflict within the UED force.
DuGalle is sometimes mixed up with Mengsk or Duke, who are associated with the Terran Dominion and the Confederacy rather than the UED invasion. Brood War’s UED campaign shows that the Koprulu Sector is contested by powers from beyond its established local factions.
