In snooker, what is the official term for potting all 15 reds with blacks?

The story behind the answer

In snooker, potting all 15 reds with blacks and then clearing the colours is a maximum break.

A standard maximum break scores 147 points: fifteen reds each followed by a black produce 120 points, and clearing the six colours adds 27 more. The colour sequence after the reds is yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black.

The phrase “147” is also widely used as a noun for this achievement. A player can make a break above 147 only when an opponent has committed a foul and a free ball is awarded, allowing an extra red and colour before the normal clearance.

A century break means any break of at least 100 points, so every 147 is a century but most centuries are not maximums. “Total clearance” is broader: it describes clearing every ball remaining on the table, even when the break is not 147.
