Answer
FitzChivalry Farseer
Answer
FitzChivalry Farseer
In Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy, the protagonist is FitzChivalry Farseer. Usually called Fitz, he is the illegitimate son of Prince Chivalry Farseer and grows up connected to the royal family of the Six Duchies.
Fitz is secretly trained by Chade Fallstar to serve as a royal assassin, diplomat, and spy. His royal blood also gives him access to the Skill, a form of telepathic magic used by the Farseer line. At the same time, he possesses the Wit, a stigmatized ability that allows humans to bond and communicate with animals.
The trilogy follows Fitz through Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, and Assassin's Quest. His story combines court politics, warfare, magical conflict, and the personal cost of serving a kingdom that cannot publicly acknowledge him. His closest animal bond is with Nighteyes, a wolf.
Regal, Verity, and the Fool are important characters, but none is the trilogy's protagonist. Verity is Fitz's uncle and a central royal figure; Regal is an ambitious prince; and the Fool is Fitz's enigmatic friend.
