The male attendants in a traditional quinceañera court are called chambelanes.
Chambelanes are members of the court of honor who may accompany the quinceañera during her entrance, formal waltz, photographs, and choreographed routines. The word is especially associated with Spanish-speaking quinceañera traditions, although families may use English labels such as escorts or attendants.
The court can also include damas, traditionally female attendants. Modern celebrations frequently adapt this arrangement: some have mixed-gender attendants, a small group, one escort, or no formal court.
Chambelanes should not be confused with padrinos. Padrinos are sponsors or patrons who may help provide items or services for the celebration, whereas chambelanes are attendants participating in the ceremonial and social program.
