In Pokémon the Movie 2000, the three legendary birds awaken Lugia.
The film’s story centers on Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, whose capture disrupts the balance of nature. The collector Lawrence III seeks the birds as part of his plan to awaken Lugia, a powerful legendary Pokémon associated with the sea and storms.
Ash, Misty, and Tracey travel to Shamouti Island, where the events unfold. The movie’s English title is Pokémon the Movie 2000, while its Japanese title refers to Lugia’s explosive birth.
Lugia is not one of the three legendary birds. Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are separate Pokémon, while Lugia is the central legendary figure connected to the film’s conflict. The movie was released in Japan in 1999 and in the United States in 2000.
