In Pixar's Cars, which classic Volkswagen vehicle does Fillmore resemble?

In Pixar's Cars, Fillmore resembles a Volkswagen Type 2 van.

Fillmore is Radiator Springs' peace-loving owner of Fillmore's Organic Fuel. His rounded body, split-style front windshield, and rear-engine van shape reflect the classic Volkswagen Type 2, a vehicle strongly associated with the 1960s counterculture.

The Type 2 was introduced by Volkswagen in 1950 and was sold in several forms, including the Transporter, Kombi, and Microbus. Fillmore's design is not presented as a precise production-year replica, but its visual identity clearly comes from that family of vans.

Fillmore's name also echoes the Fillmore music venues and the era's alternative culture. His friend Sarge, a military-style jeep, provides a deliberate contrast in both personality and vehicle design.
