In Pixar’s Cars, what type of vehicle is Guido, Luigi’s best friend?

The story behind the answer

In Pixar’s Cars, Guido is a forklift and Luigi’s best friend.

Guido works at Luigi’s Casa Della Tires in Radiator Springs, where he helps change tires and serves as Luigi’s assistant. Although he speaks very little English, his enthusiasm and expressive gestures make him one of the film’s most recognizable supporting characters.

His major showcase comes during the final Piston Cup race. Guido performs an extremely fast pit stop for Lightning McQueen, changing all four tires in a dramatic sequence. The moment proves that his small size does not limit his technical ability.

Guido is often mistaken for a miniature car because he lives among automobiles, but his body design is based on a forklift. The character’s name also evokes the Italian setting and language used around Luigi’s tire shop. Guido returns in Cars 2 and Cars 3, where his loyalty and pit-crew skills remain important.
