In Pixar's Cars, what is the name of the town where Lightning McQueen meets Sally Carrera?

The story behind the answer

Lightning McQueen meets Sally Carrera in Radiator Springs in Pixar's Cars.

Radiator Springs is the fictional desert town where most of the film's story takes place. Lightning reaches it after accidentally damaging the road and being ordered to repair it. While completing that work, he meets Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson, Flo, Ramone, Luigi, and the rest of the local community.

The town is presented as a Route 66 community affected by the construction of a faster interstate highway. Its reduced traffic reflects the historical changes that caused many real Route 66 towns to lose business after interstate roads redirected travelers. Pixar artists researched the highway and its roadside landmarks while developing the film.

Radiator Springs is not the same as Ornament Valley, a nearby fictional setting named in the Cars universe. Sally is associated with the town's Cozy Cone Motel and serves as its attorney. The town's restoration becomes one of Lightning's final acts before he returns to racing.
