In Pixar’s Cars, what is the name of Lightning McQueen’s transport truck?

The story behind the answer

Mack is the name of Lightning McQueen’s transport truck in Pixar’s Cars.

Mack is a red truck who hauls Lightning McQueen between races. At the beginning of Cars, Mack drives overnight toward California while Lightning sleeps in the trailer. After Lightning falls out, Mack continues on without realizing that the racer is missing, setting up the events that bring McQueen to Radiator Springs.

Mack’s design resembles an American semi-truck, and his role reflects the real logistics of professional racing. Race cars are transported in specialized trailers rather than driving long distances between every event. His large size and practical job contrast with Lightning’s impatience and celebrity-focused personality.

The name is often misspelled “Mac,” but the character is officially Mack. He is also not the same character as Mater, who is a tow truck and becomes Lightning’s friend in Radiator Springs. Mack returns in later Cars films and remains associated with Lightning’s racing career.
