In Pixar's Cars (2006), which comedian provides the voice of Mater?

Larry the Cable Guy provides the voice of Mater in Pixar's Cars (2006).

Mater is a rusty tow truck living in Radiator Springs, where he quickly becomes Lightning McQueen's friend. The character's humor, country-style phrasing, and distinctive voice were designed around Larry the Cable Guy's comedy persona, whose real name is Daniel Lawrence Whitney.

The voice casting is sometimes confused with the actors who play other major Cars characters. Owen Wilson voices Lightning McQueen, Bonnie Hunt voices Sally Carrera, and Paul Newman voices Doc Hudson. Larry the Cable Guy returned as Mater in Cars 2 and Cars 3, as well as in several Cars short films and television projects.

Mater became one of the franchise's most recognizable characters. Cars 2 gives him a much larger role, making him central to the spy-comedy plot, while Cars 3 returns the focus to Lightning McQueen's racing career and keeps Mater as a supporting friend.
