In Pixar's Cars (2006), the racing sponsor that first backs Lightning McQueen is Rust-eze.
Rust-eze is a fictional automotive product marketed as a treatment for rusty vehicles. Its sponsorship gives McQueen his first major opportunity in professional racing. The brand's orange-and-white identity appears on his bodywork and equipment during the opening part of the film.
McQueen is eager to leave Rust-eze behind because he considers the sponsor embarrassing. He dreams of replacing it with Dinoco, the prestigious company associated with veteran champion Strip Weathers. His ambition creates tension with his Rust-eze team, even though the team supported him when he was an unknown rookie.
The film eventually reframes McQueen's relationship with the sponsor. After learning humility and loyalty in Radiator Springs, he chooses to respect the people who helped him. Rust-eze remains connected to his racing career, while Dinoco becomes an important later sponsor. The two brands are therefore linked but are not interchangeable.
