In Philip K. Dick's 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?', what is the name of the bounty hunter?

The story behind the answer

In Philip K. Dick's 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?', the bounty hunter is Rick Deckard.

Deckard works for the San Francisco Police Department after a global nuclear war has devastated animal life and driven many people toward off-world colonies. His assignment is to find and “retire”—the novel's euphemism for killing—six escaped Nexus-6 androids who have returned to Earth from Mars.

Deckard is not simply a conventional action hero. He begins the story wanting to earn enough money to replace his electric sheep with a real animal, since living animals have become rare status symbols. As he hunts the androids, however, encounters with Rachael Rosen, Phil Resch, and John Isidore force him to question whether empathy and humanity can be cleanly separated from artificial life.

A common mix-up is with the later film 'Blade Runner', in which Deckard is also the central bounty hunter, but the novel and film differ in important plot details and characterization. Roy Batty is one of the android fugitives, while Eldon Rosen is an executive connected to their manufacturer.
