Prometheus’s theft of fire led to Zeus creating Pandora in the mythological sequence told by Hesiod.
Prometheus was a Titan associated with foresight and with helping humanity. He is said to have stolen fire from the gods and given it to humans, allowing them to develop skills and technologies unavailable to them before. Zeus treated the act as a serious challenge to divine authority.
In response, Zeus arranged for Pandora to be made and sent among mortals. Hesiod connects this punishment with both Prometheus and humanity, showing that the gods’ retaliation affects more than the individual who committed the offense.
Prometheus is sometimes described as humanity’s outright creator, but that is not the central point of Hesiod’s Pandora story. The relevant chain is specific: Prometheus takes fire, Zeus retaliates, and Pandora becomes part of the punishment.
