In Pandora's box mythology, which Titan gave fire to humanity?

The story behind the answer

Prometheus was the Titan who gave fire to humanity in the mythology connected with Pandora's box.

Greek myth portrays Prometheus as a benefactor of humankind. In one famous version, he steals fire from Mount Olympus and gives it to mortals, enabling cooking, metalworking, crafts, and other technologies. Zeus punishes him by chaining him to a mountain, where an eagle repeatedly eats his liver; the liver grows back and the punishment continues.

Pandora's creation follows this conflict in Hesiod's narrative. Zeus orders the gods to make Pandora as a punishment for Prometheus's theft and for humanity's benefit from it. Pandora is then sent to Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother. Prometheus's name is often interpreted as “forethought,” while Epimetheus is associated with “afterthought,” a contrast that helps explain their different responses to Zeus's gift.

The Pandora story is not identical in every ancient source. Later writers expanded, altered, or combined details, but Prometheus's theft of fire and Zeus's retaliatory creation of Pandora are the central linked elements in the best-known tradition.
