In Norse mythology, which god kills the wolf Fenrir after it kills Odin?

The story behind the answer

In Norse mythology, Víðarr kills the wolf Fenrir after Fenrir kills Odin.

Víðarr is one of Odin’s sons and is often called the Silent God. During Ragnarök, Fenrir breaks free and attacks the gods. The wolf swallows Odin, but Víðarr avenges his father by killing Fenrir.

The myth gives Víðarr specially reinforced footwear, often described as a thick or magically strong shoe. He uses it to brace one foot against Fenrir’s lower jaw, then forces the wolf’s mouth apart and kills him. This detail makes the shoe an important part of the story.

Víðarr survives Ragnarök, along with several other gods. He is sometimes confused with Týr, another god who loses a hand to Fenrir, but Týr does not kill the wolf in the surviving Ragnarök account.
