In Norse mythology, what is the name of Odin’s spear used in the final battle?

The story behind the answer

In Norse mythology, Gungnir is Odin’s spear used in the final battle. It is a magical weapon made by the dwarfs and is one of the most important symbols of Odin’s authority and warfare.

The spear appears in several myths. Its shaft is made from the wood of the World Tree, according to some traditions, and it is described as never missing its target. Odin throws Gungnir at the beginning of the conflict between the Æsir and Vanir, and he later carries it into battle at Ragnarök.

At Ragnarök, Odin rides to confront Fenrir, the giant wolf. The wolf swallows him, and Odin is avenged by his son Víðarr. Gungnir therefore belongs to the final battle narrative, but it does not save Odin from his destined death.

Gungnir is sometimes confused with Gram, the sword associated with Sigurd, or with other legendary weapons from Germanic mythology. Its owner and most consistent association are Odin.
