In Norse mythology, Gimlé is the hall described as a refuge for the righteous after Ragnarök.
The name appears in Vafþrúðnismál and is discussed in accounts of the world after the gods’ final battle. It is portrayed as a beautiful place where good people can live after the destruction and renewal associated with Ragnarök.
Gimlé is distinct from Valhalla. Valhalla is Odin’s hall for selected warriors before Ragnarök, while Gimlé belongs to the post-Ragnarök future. Fólkvangr is another destination for some battle-dead during the mythic present and is associated with Freyja.
The sources differ in details about the future world, and some passages mention other halls or surviving beings. Nevertheless, Gimlé is the standard answer when a question asks for the hall reserved for the righteous after Ragnarök.
