In Japanese mythology, what is the name of the jeweled spear used by Izanagi and Izanami to stir the primordial sea?

The story behind the answer

In Japanese mythology, Ame-no-Nuhoko is the jeweled spear Izanagi and Izanami use to stir the primordial sea.

The deity couple receive the spear from the earlier heavenly kami. They stand on the floating bridge of heaven and plunge it into the chaotic waters below. When they withdraw it, brine drips from the blade and forms an island, often identified in the Kojiki as Onogoro Island.

Ame-no-Nuhoko is part of the creation episode in the Kojiki and is also mentioned in related accounts of the Nihon Shoki. It is not one of Japan’s Three Sacred Treasures. Kusanagi is the sacred sword, while the sacred mirror and jewel complete that imperial regalia; the spear belongs to an earlier mythic creation scene.
