In James Cameron’s Avatar, which actor plays the former Marine Jake Sully?

Sam Worthington plays the former Marine Jake Sully in James Cameron’s Avatar. Jake is the film’s human protagonist, who operates an Avatar body on Pandora and becomes involved with the Na’vi.

Avatar was released in 2009 and became one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history. Its story follows Jake as he joins the Avatar Program after his twin brother’s death. Through the remotely controlled body, Jake can move among the Na’vi and explore Pandora, eventually opposing the human military and corporate operation there.

Worthington is sometimes confused with the actors who play the film’s other prominent humans. Stephen Lang portrays Colonel Miles Quaritch, Giovanni Ribisi plays Parker Selfridge, and Joel David Moore plays Dr. Norm Spellman. Zoe Saldaña plays Neytiri, Jake’s Na’vi ally and love interest, but she does not play Jake.
