In Jain cosmology, Siddha-shila is the highest realm where liberated souls reside.
Jain teachings describe the universe as having a structured shape, with heavenly realms above the middle world and hellish realms below it. At the summit is Siddha-shila, also called the abode of the liberated. Souls that have destroyed karma and completed the path to liberation rise there and remain free from rebirth.
A siddha is a liberated soul, not a creator deity. Jainism teaches that these souls possess perfected knowledge, perception, power, and bliss, while no longer participating in worldly existence. Siddha-shila is therefore different from a temporary heaven inhabited by gods who will eventually be reborn.
The name can be confused with Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain at the center of Jain and other Indian cosmologies. Meru is a feature of the inhabited universe; Siddha-shila lies at its upper limit.
