In House M.D., Robert Sean Leonard portrays Dr. James Wilson, Gregory House’s best friend.

Wilson is the head of the hospital’s Department of Oncology and is one of the few people willing to challenge House personally as well as professionally. His medical specialty gives the series a recurring perspective on cancer care, while his friendship with House supplies much of the show’s emotional and ethical tension.

Robert Sean Leonard was already known for film and stage work before joining the series. He appeared in Dead Poets Society and had an established theater career, including Broadway performances. House M.D. introduced his work to a much wider television audience.
