David Shore created House M.D., the medical drama starring Hugh Laurie as Gregory House.
Shore developed the series for Fox with executive producers Katie Jacobs and film director Bryan Singer. Singer directed the pilot and several later episodes, but he is not the show’s creator. This distinction is a common source of confusion because Singer was highly visible in the series’ early production history.
The program debuted in November 2004 and centered on a brilliant but abrasive physician who solved complex diagnostic puzzles. Shore’s concept helped turn a hospital procedural into a character drama focused on House’s reasoning, relationships, addiction, and ethical conflicts.
Shore also wrote and produced extensively for the series. House M.D. became one of television’s most recognizable medical dramas and remained on Fox through its eighth and final season in 2012.
