David Shore created House M.D., the television series centered on diagnostician Gregory House.
Shore developed the series for Fox with executive producers including Katie Jacobs and Bryan Singer. The premise combines medical mysteries with the personality of House, whose diagnostic brilliance is matched by his abrasive behavior and dependence on Vicodin.
The character was partly inspired by Sherlock Holmes. House’s surname echoes Holmes, while his friendship with James Wilson parallels Holmes’s relationship with Dr. Watson. The series therefore blends hospital medicine with detective-story structure.
David Shore remained closely associated with the show throughout its run, serving as its creator and a major writer-producer. House M.D. premiered in 2004 and became one of Fox’s best-known medical dramas.
