In House M.D., which character is known as “Cutthroat Bitch”?

Amber Volakis is the House M.D. character known as “Cutthroat Bitch.”

Volakis, played by Anne Dudek, is one of the doctors competing for a place on House’s diagnostic team during the fourth season. House gives her the nickname because of her aggressive, highly competitive approach to the selection process.

The nickname is a character label rather than Volakis’s formal name or medical title. She is also sometimes remembered mainly for her later relationship with James Wilson and for the major storyline involving House, Wilson, and a bus accident.

Volakis is distinct from Remy Hadley, who is called “Thirteen,” and from Allison Cameron, another early member of House’s original team. Keeping those names separate matters because the show introduces several fellows across overlapping seasons and gives some of them memorable informal labels.
