Eric Foreman becomes Princeton-Plainsboro’s dean of medicine near the end of House M.D.
Foreman begins the series as one of House’s original diagnostic fellows and eventually rises through the hospital hierarchy. His appointment as dean reflects his medical ability, leadership experience, and willingness to work within the institution, even though his relationship with House remains complicated.
The promotion is especially significant because Foreman often serves as a counterpoint to House. He respects rigorous diagnosis but is more cautious about rules, professional responsibility, and patient safety. Foreman’s later leadership also connects the original diagnostic team to the hospital’s future after House’s department changes. Some viewers confuse this role with Foreman’s earlier position as a neurologist or with Cuddy’s role as hospital administrator; the dean of medicine position belongs to Foreman near the series’ conclusion.
