Eric Foreman became Princeton-Plainsboro’s dean of medicine after Lisa Cuddy left House M.D.
Foreman had begun the series as a neurologist on House’s diagnostic team. Over time, he took on increasingly senior responsibilities, including departmental leadership and hospital administration. His appointment as dean reflects the character’s movement from junior team member to institutional authority.
Lisa Cuddy leaves Princeton-Plainsboro near the end of season seven, and Foreman later serves as dean in the final season. This change also alters his relationship with House: instead of merely challenging House as a colleague, Foreman must manage the consequences of House’s conduct as an administrator.
James Wilson remains an oncologist, Robert Chase continues as a physician, and Gregory House is the hospital’s diagnostician. None of those characters succeeds Cuddy as dean in the final season.
