In House M.D., Jesse Spencer played Dr. Robert Chase, a member of House’s original diagnostic team.
Chase is an Australian physician who joins House’s department at Princeton-Plainsboro in the first season. Spencer, who is Australian, performs the role as part of the ensemble surrounding Hugh Laurie’s Gregory House.
The original team also included Allison Cameron, played by Jennifer Morrison, and Eric Foreman, played by Omar Epps. Their different backgrounds and medical approaches create much of the early team’s tension and debate. Chase’s character continues beyond the first team configuration and develops a larger professional role over the series.
Jesse Spencer later became widely associated with the television drama Chicago Fire, where he played Matthew Casey. That later role can cause mix-ups, but Spencer’s House M.D. character is Robert Chase, not Foreman, Cameron, or another fellow.
