In House M.D., Eric Foreman was the first diagnostic team leader after House returned to work.
Foreman was one of the original doctors selected to work under Gregory House at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. After House’s team changed substantially near the end of season three, Foreman became the leader of the reconstituted diagnostic department when he returned to the hospital in season four.
The distinction is important because House’s original team included Foreman, Robert Chase, and Allison Cameron, while the later team included doctors such as Chris Taub, Lawrence Kutner, and Remy Hadley. Foreman’s leadership role came before later administrative positions, including Dean of Medicine.
Some viewers may choose Robert Chase because Chase eventually leads the diagnostic department. However, Chase’s leadership occurs later, after Foreman has moved into hospital administration. Foreman’s trajectory therefore links the original team, the rebuilt department, and the hospital’s senior leadership.
