In House M.D., what specialty does Dr. Lisa Cuddy primarily represent as a physician?

The story behind the answer

Dr. Lisa Cuddy primarily represents endocrinology as a physician in House M.D.

Cuddy is the dean of medicine and hospital administrator at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Before taking on that leadership role, she trained and practiced as an endocrinologist. Endocrinology focuses on hormones and the glands and organs that produce them, including the thyroid, pancreas, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland.

Her medical specialty is sometimes overlooked because most of her screen time concerns management, hospital policy, staffing, and conflicts with House. Cuddy supervises House, protects the hospital from some of his most dangerous decisions, and still recognizes that his diagnostic team solves cases other doctors cannot.

Lisa Edelstein played Cuddy through season seven. Cuddy’s professional relationship with House eventually becomes romantic, but their relationship deteriorates after House’s drug use and erratic behavior. She leaves the hospital after the season-seven finale.
