In House M.D., what London address is used as a reference for House’s apartment?

House M.D. references 221B Baker Street as the address associated with House’s apartment, directly echoing Sherlock Holmes.

221B Baker Street is the fictional London address of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories. House’s name, his deductive approach, his drug use, and his friendship with Wilson all contribute to the series’ Holmes inspiration.

In the television series, House’s apartment is located at 221B Baker Street in Princeton, New Jersey. The address is therefore a deliberate literary reference rather than an ordinary location detail.

The parallel is also visible in the names: “House” resembles “Holmes,” while “Wilson” echoes “Watson.” These similarities are influences and adaptations of character concepts, not a claim that House M.D. retells a specific Sherlock Holmes story.
