In House M.D., what is the name of House’s motorcycle-riding best friend?

James Wilson is House’s motorcycle-riding best friend in House M.D.

Wilson is an oncologist at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital and one of the few people willing to challenge House while continuing to support him. Their friendship is central to the series, combining professional disagreement, personal loyalty, and frequent arguments about House’s choices.

Wilson’s motorcycle becomes a recognizable part of his characterization, especially as the show presents him as more independent and adventurous than his gentle manner initially suggests. The friendship is not simply comic relief: Wilson often functions as the person who understands House’s motives and recognizes the consequences of his behavior.

The character’s full name is James Evan Wilson, but the series almost always calls him Wilson. He is played by Robert Sean Leonard, who remained associated with the role throughout the show’s eight-season run.
