Eric Foreman is the diagnostic fellow who later becomes Dean of Medicine in House M.D.
Foreman is one of House’s original fellows and remains connected to the diagnostic department through much of the series. He is a neurologist whose disciplined, ambitious approach frequently clashes with House’s unconventional methods. Foreman often wants evidence and professional structure, while House is willing to violate procedure if he believes it may reveal the diagnosis.
Over time, Foreman assumes increasing responsibility at Princeton-Plainsboro. He eventually becomes Dean of Medicine, succeeding Lisa Cuddy as the hospital’s senior medical administrator. His promotion reflects both his clinical development and his ability to manage institutional responsibilities, although House’s influence continues to complicate their professional relationship.
Omar Epps played Foreman. The character should not be confused with Robert Chase, another original fellow who specializes in intensive care and surgery, or with James Wilson, who is an oncologist. Foreman’s path from junior diagnostician to administrator is one of the show’s clearest long-term career arcs.
