In House M.D. season 1, what hospital employs Gregory House?

The story behind the answer

In House M.D. season 1, Gregory House works at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.

The fictional New Jersey hospital is the main setting for the series. House leads a specialized diagnostic-medicine team there, investigating patients whose illnesses have resisted ordinary treatment. The hospital also provides the setting for stories involving surgery, emergency care, oncology, neurology, and hospital administration.

Princeton-Plainsboro is fictional, but the show’s name evokes real institutions in and around Princeton, New Jersey. The series was filmed largely on a studio backlot and in Los Angeles-area locations rather than at a real New Jersey teaching hospital. Princeton-Plainsboro should not be confused with the real Princeton University campus or Princeton Medical Center, which are separate institutions.

The hospital’s administrative leadership changes during the series, including roles held by Lisa Cuddy and later other senior doctors. Its diagnostic department remains closely associated with House throughout the show.
