House M.D. ran for eight seasons before its series finale aired in 2012. Fox broadcast the medical drama from November 16, 2004, through May 21, 2012.
Across those eight seasons, the series followed Gregory House as he led diagnostic teams, confronted professional rules, and struggled with chronic pain and dependence on Vicodin. The composition of his team changed several times, while recurring characters such as James Wilson and Lisa Cuddy connected the different eras of the hospital story.
The finale, titled “Everybody Dies,” concluded the main narrative after House faked his death to spend time with Wilson, who was dying of thymoma. The show’s eight-season total is distinct from its episode count, which exceeded 170 episodes. It is also separate from the number of actors who served on House’s diagnostic teams.
