House M.D. was broadcast for eight seasons before its series finale in 2012.
The medical drama premiered on Fox on November 16, 2004, and concluded on May 21, 2012. Its eight-season run followed Gregory House and changing teams of doctors as they investigated difficult diagnoses at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.
The cast and structure evolved over time. House’s original diagnostic team changed after the early seasons, and later seasons introduced new fellows while retaining established characters such as Foreman and Chase. Those changes can make the show’s chronology seem longer or shorter to viewers who remember only one team lineup.
The finale, “Everybody Dies,” was broadcast as the final episode of the series. It followed the penultimate episode, “Holding On,” and brought the central House–Wilson relationship to the foreground. The eight-season count refers to broadcast seasons, not the number of principal diagnostic teams.
