The original House M.D. television series ran for eight seasons.
The show premiered on Fox on November 16, 2004, and concluded on May 21, 2012. Across its run, it followed Gregory House and changing teams of doctors as they investigated unusual illnesses at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.
Its format combined medical mystery with long-running character drama. House’s diagnostic department changed personnel several times, while major storylines explored addiction, disability, professional ethics, friendship, and the consequences of treating patients through unconventional methods.
The eight-season total is sometimes confused with the number of years between the premiere and finale, because the series aired across portions of calendar years. It is also distinct from the episode count: the series produced substantially more than eight episodes, with most seasons containing roughly two dozen installments.
