In Hesiod’s Pandora myth, which god gave Pandora a golden crown?

The story behind the answer

In Hesiod’s Pandora myth, Hephaestus gave Pandora a golden crown.

Zeus ordered Hephaestus to shape Pandora from earth as part of the punishment directed at humanity after Prometheus’s theft of fire. Hephaestus was the divine smith, so his role in forming and adorning the figure fits his traditional association with craftsmanship and metalwork.

Hesiod’s description then distributes additional attributes among other deities. The Seasons crowned Pandora with spring flowers, while Aphrodite gave her grace and desire. Hermes supplied deceptive speech and a deceitful nature in the traditional account.

The crown is sometimes confused with the floral adornment given by the Seasons. They are separate details: Hephaestus is associated with the golden crown, while the Seasons are associated with flowers.
