In Harry Potter, the house elf who serves the Malfoy family is Dobby.
Dobby is introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as a nervous, determined elf who secretly tries to stop Harry from returning to Hogwarts. Although he belongs to the Malfoy household, he deliberately disobeys his owners to protect Harry from danger. The Malfoys treat him cruelly, reinforcing the series’ broader criticism of wizarding society’s acceptance of house-elf servitude.
Dobby is often confused with Winky, another important house elf who serves the Crouch family, or Kreacher, who belongs to the House of Black. Hokey serves Hepzibah Smith and appears in the backstory of Tom Riddle. Dobby eventually gains his freedom when Lucius Malfoy unknowingly gives him a sock, and he later chooses to work at Hogwarts for wages. His loyalty becomes crucial in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, when he rescues prisoners from Malfoy Manor and dies protecting his friends.
