In Greek mythology, whom does Pandora marry after Prometheus’s brother accepts Zeus’s gift?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora marries Epimetheus after Prometheus’s brother accepts Zeus’s gift.

Epimetheus is a Titan and the brother of Prometheus. His name is commonly interpreted as “afterthought,” contrasting with Prometheus, whose name is associated with forethought. In Hesiod’s story, Prometheus warns Epimetheus not to accept a gift from Zeus, but Epimetheus takes Pandora into his home.

Pandora’s arrival leads to the opening of the storage jar and the release of evils into the human world. The couple therefore occupies the center of the myth’s domestic scene, even though Zeus, Prometheus, and the other gods shape the larger conflict.

Epimetheus should not be confused with Prometheus. Prometheus is the Titan associated with stealing fire for humanity and suffering punishment from Zeus. Epimetheus is the one who receives Pandora. Later mythology also connects Epimetheus and Pandora with Pyrrha, who becomes important in traditions about the survival of humanity after a great flood.
