In Greek mythology, whom did Pandora’s daughter Pyrrha marry?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora’s daughter Pyrrha married Deucalion.

Deucalion is usually described as the son of Prometheus, the Titan who helped humanity in Greek myth, and Pronoia. Pyrrha is described as the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus. Their marriage links the Pandora narrative to the Greek flood story.

According to the best-known version, Zeus sent a flood to destroy the Bronze Age of humanity. Deucalion and Pyrrha survived by taking shelter in a chest or ark-like vessel. When the waters receded, they sought guidance from the goddess Themis.

The oracle told them to throw the “bones of their mother” behind them. They interpreted this as stones from Gaia, or Earth. Stones thrown by Deucalion became men, and those thrown by Pyrrha became women. Their son Hellen was later presented as the ancestor of the Hellenes, or Greeks, in mythological genealogy.
