In Greek mythology, whom did Pandora marry or join after being sent to humanity?

The story behind the answer

Pandora married or joined Epimetheus in the Greek myth of Pandora’s box.

Epimetheus was a Titan and the brother of Prometheus. His name is commonly understood as “afterthought,” contrasting with Prometheus, whose name means “forethought.” This contrast helps explain the brothers’ roles: Prometheus anticipates consequences, while Epimetheus acts and reflects afterward.

Prometheus warned Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus. Epimetheus nevertheless accepted Pandora, who had been created and sent to humanity as part of Zeus’s punishment. In the story’s sequence, Pandora becomes the person who opens the vessel containing the troubles that spread through human life.

Epimetheus is not the same figure as Prometheus, a common mistake caused by their similar names and shared Titan family. The brothers also appear in other Greek myths, including accounts involving the creation of animals and humans. Their names became classic examples of contrasting mental habits.
