In Greek mythology, whom did Pandora marry after her creation?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora married Epimetheus after her creation.

Epimetheus was a Titan associated with hindsight and was the brother of Prometheus. Prometheus had warned him not to accept gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus accepted Pandora, whom Zeus had sent as part of his punishment for Prometheus’s theft of fire.

Pandora’s marriage to Epimetheus is part of the story in Hesiod’s Works and Days. The myth does not present Pandora as an independent visitor to humanity; she enters the household of Epimetheus before the vessel is opened.

A common mix-up is confusing Epimetheus with Prometheus. Prometheus is the Titan linked with fire and foresight, while Epimetheus is Pandora’s husband in the surviving Hesiodic account.
