In Greek mythology, who was Pandora’s husband?
Answer
Epimetheus
Answer
Epimetheus
In Greek mythology, Pandora’s husband was Epimetheus.
Epimetheus was a Titan associated with hindsight and was the brother of Prometheus. Prometheus warned him not to accept gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus accepted Pandora, who had been created by the gods. Their marriage links the story of Pandora’s jar with the wider myth of humanity’s troubles.
Pandora is often described in modern retellings as opening a box, but the earliest Greek account describes a large storage jar. The husband’s name is also sometimes confused with Prometheus because the two brothers are central to the same myth cycle. Prometheus is the brother who helps humanity and suffers Zeus’s punishment; Epimetheus is the one who receives Pandora.
