In Greek mythology, who was Pandora's husband after Zeus sent her to humanity?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pandora's husband was Epimetheus.

Epimetheus was a Titan associated with hindsight and was the brother of Prometheus. Zeus sent Pandora to Epimetheus after Prometheus had stolen fire and given it to humanity. Although Prometheus warned his brother not to accept gifts from Zeus, Epimetheus welcomed Pandora.

Pandora's arrival is central to Hesiod's account of humanity's troubles. She carried the sealed container later popularized in English as Pandora's box. When it was opened, harmful forces escaped, while hope remained inside according to the usual reading of the story.

A common mix-up is confusing Epimetheus with Prometheus. Prometheus is the fire-bringer and Pandora's warning figure; Epimetheus is the man who accepts Pandora and becomes her husband.
