In Greek mythology, who was Pandora’s daughter with Epimetheus and the mother of Hellen?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Pyrrha was Pandora’s daughter with Epimetheus and the mother of Hellen.

Pyrrha appears in the Greek flood myth alongside her husband, Deucalion. Zeus sends a devastating flood, and the couple survives by taking refuge in a chest or ark-like vessel. After the waters recede, they restore the human race by throwing stones behind them; the stones become people.

Pyrrha’s parentage connects her to the Pandora cycle. She is traditionally the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus, while Deucalion is the son of Prometheus. Their marriage therefore joins the families of the two brothers who frame the earlier story.

Pyrrha and Deucalion are also associated with Hellen, whose name is linked with the Hellenes, or Greeks. This genealogy is found in later Greek mythographic traditions and differs in detail from the compact account in Hesiod’s poems.
