In Greek mythology, Pyrrha is Pandora’s daughter and the wife of Deucalion.
Pyrrha belongs to the generation after Pandora and Epimetheus. She marries Deucalion, who is usually described as the son of Prometheus and Clymene. When Zeus sends a great flood to destroy much of humanity, Deucalion and Pyrrha survive by taking refuge in a chest or ark-like vessel.
After the flood, the pair restore humanity by throwing stones behind them in response to an oracle. Deucalion’s stones become men, while Pyrrha’s become women. Their story therefore connects Pandora’s family to a Greek creation account explaining the renewal of the human race.
Pyrrha is sometimes confused with other famous women in Greek myth, especially Helen or Ariadne, but she is specifically the flood survivor paired with Deucalion. Her mother is Pandora, while her father is Epimetheus in the standard genealogy.
