In Greek mythology, who became Pandora’s husband after accepting her into his home?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Epimetheus became Pandora’s husband after accepting her into his home.

Epimetheus was a Titan associated with hindsight, while his brother Prometheus represented forethought. Hesiod’s account presents Prometheus as warning Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus. Epimetheus nevertheless welcomed Pandora, who had been fashioned and sent by the gods.

Pandora’s arrival leads to the opening of the sealed container and the release of troubles into the world. The story therefore connects Epimetheus with the consequences of acting without his brother’s caution. The myth does not describe him as Pandora’s creator or as the person who gave her the container.

Later traditions connect Pandora and Epimetheus with Pyrrha, who survives the great flood with Deucalion. This makes Pandora’s marriage part of the genealogy leading to a renewed human race in Greek myth.
